Cass Tech LB Dyontae Johnson commits to Toledo, 2nd Detroit commit of the day

The Toledo Rockets had one of the best recruiting days defensively in awhile as 2 of their top defensive targets committed on Thursday afternoon.  Earlier in the day, King 2018 DE Maurice White committed and Cass Tech 2018 OLB Dyontae Johnson followed soon after.

Johnson had a great visit to Toledo a week before he committed where he announced that Toledo "felt like home."  Johnson is 6'3" 193 lbs and also a player who figured to draw a lot of big schools his way during camp season.  Johnson was thoroughly impressed on his visit the week prior and didn't make a spur of the moment decision as he slept on his decision for 7 days before evaluating his options and committed to Toledo.

Toledo will be adding a player who has made leap and bounds improvements during his time at Cass Tech as he's filled out his frame tremendously from the Fall of 2016 to now and is still very overlooked.

Johnson picked up his first offer in May 2016 before getting his 2nd at the end of January 2017, he holds 8 as of today.   Toledo has signed 5 Technicians out of high school since 2003, including two the past two seasons in 2017 and 2016.  Toledo now has 2 commits from Michigan in their Class of 2018.

2017:  Kelvin Ateman
2016:  Edrick Matthews
2013:  DeJuan Rogers
2011:  Kishon Wilcher
2003:  Emory Jones
