Marquan McCall commits to Kentucky over a host of offers

The state's top offensive guard and/or defensive tackle came off the board Monday night.  Oak Park 2018 OG/DT Marquan McCall who was offered very early by Michigan, his 2nd offer to be exact and later Michigan State was enticed by the opportunity to make a name for himself outside of the state of Michigan, as McCall committed to the University of Kentucky.

Before giving thanks to his supporting cast - McCall's commitment tweet said, "READY FOR A NEW LIFE."

McCall follows a similar path of former Oak Park Knight, John Kelly who shocked the state by committing to Tennessee over Michigan, Michigan State, and Minnesota where he has had success.  McCall carries a same mentality, a strong willed player who lets his actions speak.  With a head coach as legendary as Greg Carter calling the shots in the OP program it should come to surprise the success the Knights have had in the recruiting world.

Kentucky appears to be planning to bring McCall in on the defensive side of the ball where his ferocious abilities will fit in nicely in the SEC once he adapts to the college game.  McCall showed tremendous motor in the games he's played in high school.

Through the past few weeks, McCall seemed to be blown away by his Kentucky visit in mid-April and it apparently turned out being just a matter of time before he committed.

It's also worth nothing due to the significance that McCall was one of the players Akron offered back in May 2015 that included several top current juniors and 8th-graders at the time.
