Prospects react to Michigan State Big Weekend Recruiting Visit

Davison 2018 RB Tariq Reid

Michigan State wrapped up their Class of 2017 just 2 weeks ago and the second weekend following signing day, were back in action as the staff hosted many of the top returning football players in the Class of 2018 and 2019.  It wasn't the biggest recruiting event, but saying it was just another weekend of recruits would be degrading to everyone as players with offers and a few we figure will as well made the trek across the state to East Lansing.

Davison 2018 RB Tariq Reid - "I enjoyed the competitive spirit and family like environment. Michigan State always feels like home when I visit. I just hope to continue to build relationships with the coaches and University. - Go Green!"

Eisenhower 2018 DE/OLB/TE Henry Janeway - "My visit was great. I got to try on the jersey and even meet some coaches I had not met before. All the football players got some seats that were like four rows away from the court. Overall, awesome experience. Big thanks to the MSU staff for having me! #V4MSU"

Bloomfield Hills 2018 DE/TE Jack Sape - "Looking back at the MSU visit I thought it was an overall great experience. I met a lot of the coaching staff and was able to talk one on one with them while touring the football training building. I was glad to see my recruiter in person and have a good talk with him. I really enjoyed the tour that we went on because Michigan State has been my dream school my entire life and it was really cool to explore the facilities inside and out. It was very well coordinated and I would love to visit again! Something that I would love to learn more about MSU is what kind of schedule they are on for football and to meet coach Dantonio and be able to talk to him one on one like other visits have done."

Saginaw 2018 OLB/DE NeVen Simington - "Visiting MSU was great. They gave us a tour of the football program building where all the trophies, locker room, meeting rooms, and the indoor turf room is located. It was a great experience. We got to sit down with our area recruiter and ask questions about the program, while laughing, cracking jokes about everyday life. The coaches came across as very down to earth and everyday people. We also got to watch a highlight tape and listen to the coaches discuss how they have a lot resources for all student athletes to complete their degree and that it's up to you to finish. I would also like to know when does incoming student athletes report after high school graduation. I would also like to know if their weight training and nutritional program is individualized for each player to maximize potential."

L'Anse Creuse North 2018 CB/WR Myles McHaney - "I enjoyed seeing what MSU has to offer.  They have every tool a Student athlete would need to be successful. EVERYTHING!  So if you aren't successful at the end of the day it's on you! I hope to learn more about the staff and build a relationship with them. That's what it's all about. When it's my time to choose what school to attend a big role will be the relationship that was built over time."

Saline 2018 OT Dimitri Douglas - "I was impressed with the staff at MSU it was a relatively small group and we went to a basketball game. The coaches moved around during the game talking with different players I found it very enjoyable."

Detroit Catholic Central 2018 OT Nick Carey - "I enjoyed how great the atmosphere was around the program. Everything, from the coaches to the facilities, impressed me at MSU. I had a great time, both in the football buildings and the time at the basketball game. I hope to continue my connections more and more with Michigan State after this visit."

Paw Paw 2019 OL Karsen Barnhart - "When I walked in I was comforted right away. Was taken on a very nice tour around Sskandalaris complex. I loved how in every hallway there is something from the past seasons and big games that have been won. I hope to learn more about what I need to do to become a high recruit. I look forward to working with MSU in the future."

Salem 2018 OT/DT Alex Howie - "Its always a great time in East Lansing! I love the program and how they develop players on and off the field. I believe Michigan State has some of the best coaches in the country and I look forward to working with Coach Staten at camps this off-season. Excited to continue the recruiting process and building relationships with Michigan State."

Rockford 2018 CB/SS Marcus Remtema - "I really enjoyed MSU junior day, was great getting 1on1 interaction with coaches. Seeing and talking more in depth about MSU. And the basketball game was electric. I had a lot of fun."

Detroit King 2018 WR/OLB Erik Gibson - "My visit at MSU was very good. The facility and the weight room was very impressive. I really enjoyed the environment and the basketball game. I will definitely take a visit back to campus soon."

Westland John Glenn 2019 OT/DE Keegan Vaughan - "I really enjoyed the campus and all the nice people I met. I was with Lorenzo Guess for the day and he made the visit really enjoyable and I love the fact that MichiganState has one of the best Sports Medicine programs in the Big 10!

Loyola 2018 LB Keith Johnson - "At Michigan State University on Saturday I felt like I was home. I really enjoyed the environment I was in.  I can see myself playing in them uniforms for the best group of fans in the NCAA. MSU seems to be one big happy family that I will love to have an opportunity to be apart of someday. The student section was, however, the best student section I've ever witnessed with my eyes. Also, I would love to know what if feels like to actually be a Michigan State Spartan."

Loyola 2018 DB Curtis Martin - "I would like to thank coach Blackwell for giving me the opportunity to visit Michigan State really did enjoy myself. The school overall is great. The tour around the school was nice and so was the game.   #Gogreen"

Lutheran High North 2019 K/P Jackson Griskie - "I really enjoyed the coaches. I really got to know Coach Jones and Coach Salem at the basketball game and at Skandalaris. The tour around the facility was incredible, everything was top notch. The fact that they're one of the few Nike elite schools is sweet as far as getting the latest Nike gear. I can't wait to go to a practice and go to the spring game."
