Story: Donovan Peoples-Jones, top rated WR commits to Michigan Wolverines

Tonight live on ESPN, the state's prospect Cass Tech 2017 WR Donovan Peoples-Jones announced his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines, becoming the 8th different Senior at Cass Tech to commit to a Division 1 school this year.

Donovan Peoples-Jones and 8 others in the Class of 2017 were dubbed by Jim Harbaugh as the Pipeline 9, which was their label for the top 9 in-state targets.  Over the course of 2 years Michigan has offered other members in the Class of 2017 and with Peoples-Jones commitment, the Wolverines now have 6 of 9 committed.  The other three uncommitted players to Michigan are: Allen Stritzinger - Syracuse, KJ Hamler (transferred to Florida) - Penn State, and Carter Dunaway - uncommitted.

Overall, Donovan Peoples-Jones is the 7th overall in-state commit with the possibility of it being 8 with Deron Irving-Bey committing on January 7th during the All-American game.

A little history of Peoples-Jones' top 5:  Ohio State was the first school to offer Peoples-Jones in May of 2014, it wasn't until about a year later that Michigan State and Michigan offered a week apart in February 2015.  Florida offered in May of 2015 and Peoples-Jones camped and visited on separate occasions over the summer.  Florida State entered the picture in February of 2016 with their offer.

Donovan Peoples-Jones will go down in history as one of the state's top receivers ever, as his improbable catch in the Semi-Finals lifted Cass Tech past Eisenhower and he was just unstoppable vs. Catholic Central in the state finals, as his final play was a touchdown.

By our count, Donovan Peoples-Jones has visited the University of Michigan 14 times since November 2013, for a full timeline of his recruiting process visit this link.
