The D Zone has selected - Saline's senior Linebacker, Chris Terech as the 2014 Defensive Player of the Year. Chris Terech to most has been completely under the radar this year but his 151 total tackles through 14 games, fail to compare to the leadership Terech possesses. The Middle Linebacker spot is often labeled the, "Quarterback of the Defense," with Terech in charge the vocal leadership and leading by action were evident.

Saline reached the state finals, where they were defeated by Clarkston, for the first time in school history and it could not of been possible had the Saline defense not shutdown Mike Weber and Cass Tech the week prior in the semi-finals. In week 13, Chris Terech and his defensive teammates shutdown Weber, holding him to just over 100+ yards. Terech had executed the scheme to stop Weber to perfection. Terech had several key solo tackles and also was in on several group tackles.
Chris Terech would finish the State Finals game with 10 total tackles, it was the 2nd loss for Saline this year after they dropped their opener to Mona Shores. Saline would hold 3 teams to being shut out this year including, two back-to-back in week 7 and 8 to seal the SEC Red division title. The 6'2" 215 lbs LB would finish with 151 total tackles, 93 of which were solo tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 sacks.
